President Bashar al-Assad of Syria has accused the US of developing weapons of mass destruction and harbouring known war criminals.

The president noted that the Second World War had shown that nations with thoughts of global domination had had their day, and that the US must adapt to the new environment.

Syria specifically accused the US of giving shelter to senior regime figures such as the weapons mastermind Werner von Braun, and developing nuclear weapons and napalm bombs.
