Downing Street has confirmed that Tony Blair will visit the Pope this weekend, offering the pontiff a rare opportunity to be blessed by the PM.

"Like many opponents of war, the Pope is need of strong moral guidance," said an archdeacon from the Church of the Whitehall Messiah, "With Tony's help we hope he will be able to see the light."
